Metal Gear Acid presented PSP gamers with a truly original game. It took a treasured franchise and turned it into a digital a customizable card game, and it did it with flair. Metal Gear Acid 2 captures the same sense of novelty, by placing the game in 3D, but this time, we have been blessed with more than originality, we have been treated to greatness.

MGA2 is in 3D, but it doesn't have to be. All the zany CCG action can be played in widescreen 2D, albeit with much improved cel-shaded graphics, or you can snap on the included 3D viewer and play it in eye popping, make you giggle with delight, 3D. More than a gimmick, the 3D is also used to display short movies that you unlock when you gain certain cards. Some of the films are 3D renditions of Metal Gear Solid cut scenes (which look stunning BTW), and some are, well different. Many of the cards unlock 3D films of Japanese models cleaning guns, leaning against walls, or umm, just sitting on a couch. I can't decide if it's funny or creepy, but it is the first game I've seen to feature Japanese voyeurism.

The action and controls remain untouched, but the enemy are far more diverse with not one, but two Metal Gear to encounter. Lots of mini-bosses and other twists make it a very memorable ride. The ability to hook the game up to MGS: Subsistence and play MGA2 online show Konami's dedication to the PSP platform. Metal Gear Acid 2 is a fully featured handheld game like none before. Simply put, it's superb.
